UWOPA pays a courtesy call on the Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Uganda

On 24th September 2021, UWOPA Executive and Staff paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Uganda in her office.

Rt. Hon Anita Annet Among applauded the great leadership and the secretariat for the work well done. "lam pleased to see UWOPA grow from a baby to what it is now", she said.

The deputy Speaker said that she needs to work with UWOPA to help the girl that have been impregnated in this lockdown but also put strategies on how to reduce teenage pregnancies and child marriages that have gone high.

The Rt. Hon Speaker said I will be donating items to help girls who got pregnant during the lockdown and are facing difficulties. With the little we have, we can give sewing machines and other items to support their livelihood. If we work together as women leaders, we shall without a doubt go far we should as women MPS be people of substance who stand for the right of the less privileged women and girls. I will be moving across the country with other leaders of UWOPA to support the girls who have been left helpless by the pandemic, among added.

She said that this was because of the benefited go to men, the women must be protected and she implored UWOPA Executive to make UWEP issue a case for it at the NRM caucus.

Rt. Hon. Anita, the Patron of UWOPAA also advised the outgoing leadership of UWOPA to make sure that progressive laws that had been passed by the last Parliament not lost. She said that should be brought back to the house and discussed.
