THE SEXUAL OFFENCES BILL (SOB) 2019
The object of the Sexual Offences Bill (SOP) 2019 is to enact a specific law on sexual offences for the effectual prevention of sexual violence, to enhance punishment of sexual offenders, to provide for the prevention of victims during sexual offences trials, to provide for extra territorial application of the law, to repeal some provisions of the Penal Code Act, Cap 120 and for other related matters.
The SOB was read for the first time on 26th November 2019 at the floor of Parliament and referred to the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee for scrutiny and will soon present the report on the bill.
