THE MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE BILL (MAD) 2009

The object of this Bill is to reform and consolidate the Law relating to marriage, separation and divorce, to provide for the types of recognized marriages in Uganda, marital rights grounds for breakdown of marriage, rights of parties on dissolution of marriage and for other connected purposes.

The Marriage and Divorce Bill 2009 was handled up to clause 23 in the 9th Parliament and kept before the Committee of the whole house in Parliament. Currently Parliament referred the Bill to the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee.
