UWOPA PROJECTS 2016-2021

Urgent Action Fund 

UWOPA received funding from the Urgent Action Fund to support advocacy on Sexual Offences Bill 2019 and the Employment Amendment Bill 2019 for 6months from September 2020- February 2021.

 

EU Spotlight Initiative UN Women Project

This is an 18 months project (July 2019-Decemeber 2020) funded by UN Women- Uganda.

Project title: upholding the rights of women and girls through accountability for reform and implementation of gender responsive legislation.

Target group: Members of Parliament, Women Led Civil Society, Line Government Ministries, Media Association

 

“I DECIDE PROJECT”- PLAN INTERNATIONAL – UG 

This is a 4 year project (2018-2021) funded by (MFA/Plan Finland) through Plan International Uganda with other implementing partners including; Christina Counselling  Fellowship  Pader, Communication for Development Foundation Uganda , FRID, Lango Cultural Institution, Ker Kwaro Acholi and 25 Community Based organization working in 6 districts of Northern Uganda . Lira, Alebtong, Kole & Apac from Lango sub region and Agago, Pader from Acholi Sub region targeting adolescent girls and boys in and out of school. 

Project title: Decide End Child Marriage in Uganda

Project goal: targeting ending child marriage through improved access to SRHR, Education and GBV prevention.

 

WESTMINISTER FOUNDATION FOR DEMOCRACY PROJECT

This is an 18 months project (May 2018- December2019) funded by Democratic Governance Facility through Westminster Foundation  for Democracy with another implementing partner Uganda Parliamentary forum on Youth Affairs.

Project title: strengthening women and youth participation and representation in Uganda.

 

CEDAW PROJECT- PLAN INTERNATIONAL- UG

Project title: Promoting Girl’s rights through CEDAW

Project goal:  contributing to the realization of women and girls in Uganda in particular through increasing access to education, retention and performance in school, improving sexual and reproductive health and reducing gender based violence among adolescent girls.

This project is a 3 years and targets all girls and women especially in the 10 sub counties of Tororo, Buyende and Kamuli, UWOPA implemented this project jointly with Forum for African Women Educationalist Uganda Chapter. 

 

THE HAKI-MKONONI PROJECT

This project is funded by OXFAM through Uganda Women’s Network in a consortium with 2 other implementing partners including; FIDA and ACFODE. UWOPA’s role is to advance the implementation of the MAPUTO protocol among policy makers.

Objective is to influence gender legislative agenda for women and girls for the next 5 years and also use the round table to influence implementation of the protocol and other gender related laws.  

Target group: Members of Parliament on the committees of Gender, Legal and Parliamentary and Human Rights.

 

EU-VAC PROJECT

This is a 5 year project (2013-2017) funded by EU Plan International –Uganda with other 2 implementing partners ,Lango Samaritan Initiative Organization(LSIO)  and Facilitation for Peace and Development(FAPAD)

Project title:  Combating silent violence against younger children in post conflict of northern Uganda.

This project is based in northern region of Uganda that is; APAC, Lira, Altebong, Dokolo and Kole Districts.
