Advocacy Meeting with Members of Parliament on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights

UWOPA members had a field visit to Naguru Teenage Centre where Legislators had a chance of interacting with the young expectant mothers who come to the Centre for Antenatal Care and services.

This engagement provided the legislators with exposure to ASRH issues of the young peopleand also enabled them attain a practical feel of what young people’s access to Adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) services means.

It further informed the legislators on some of the priority issues that they should undertake as decision makers. 

Members of Parliament requested that the Centre continues to provide them with such opportunities of learning and exposure to the real issues that communities and especially young people are facing.  

Members of parliament had an opportunity of interacting with young mothers as well as talking to adolescents about their sexual reproductive health rights. 

Members of Parliament were called upon to consider issues of ASRHR during the national budget appropriation period especially on; commodities such as Family Planning Methods, provision of Adolescent friendly services at Health facilities as well as advocating for more teenage centres to be established across the country.
