The Women's Parliament 2015: The first of its kind in Uganda

Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) as part of its advocacy on implementation of gender sensitive legislation is organising a Women’s Parliament with a theme “Women’s participation and empowerment: Addressing challenges of CEDAW implementation”. The activity which is funded by The West Minster Foundation-Uganda Chapter will focus on the gender issues faced by the women country wide a create a way forward in form of advocacy plan to address them. The workshop will target about 200 participants comprising of grass root women, local government, councillors, MPs and civil society representatives. The event is scheduled to take place on the 7th July 2015 and will be presided over by the Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament in the Parliamentary chambers.
